Amenities to Enrich Your Life

In addition to health care and dining services, the Community Center is the place to go for a number of on-campus services and activities. Here you will find:

Broadmead's amenities don't stop with the Community Center. The gently rolling hills and mile-long perimeter road offer many opportunities for walking on the wooded nature trails, gardening, bird watching, shuffleboard, and even biking.

Dining at Broadmead

Whether you are looking for formal dining or just a quick bite to eat, both are available in our Community Center. The bright and busy Coffee Shop is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here you can help yourself to the salad and fruit bar, request a made-to-order sandwich or fill-up on your choice of hot entrees. Carry-out is also available for any meal.

The Main Dining Room is a tastefully decorated restaurant with served meals and frequent buffets. It is the perfect place to linger over one of Chef Dan's delectable specialties, or to bring the family for a home-cooked meal ~ even if you haven't cooked it yourself. Three meals a day are included in your contract, although you can opt out of two of the meals, and special diets can always be accommodated. A registered dietician is available to anyone requiring assistance.

Special occasions can be celebrated in Holly House, a charming 200+ year old original farmhouse located next to the Center. The first floor can be scheduled for receptions, parties, luncheons and other affairs catered by Broadmead's talented Dining Services staff. It is also available as a guesthouse for overnight visitors, offering several rooms with baths for a reasonable charge.

Housekeeping and Maintenance

Imagine never having to wash your sheets again! Retirement has its benefits and in a continuing care retirement community such as Broadmead many of the daily chores of life are taken care of by the staff. Routine maintenance, weekly housekeeping and weekly laundering of bath and bed linens are all included in the contract. This frees you up to pursue the individual interests you have been longing to do for years, or to enjoy the many activities and social opportunities in the community.

Utilities and Security

All utilities on campus, with the exception of heating and cooling of enclosed patios, are included in the monthly fee, including basic cable television services.

Security is provided for the campus 24 hours a day. In addition, residents take comfort in knowing that there is an emergency pull-cord located in each bedroom and bathroom, should a medical emergency ever arise.

Transportation

Broadmead offers group transportation to events of general interest including the Hippodrome Theater, Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Center Stage, the Lyric Opera House and other attractions. Scheduled bus transportation without additional charge is available for grocery and mall shopping trips.

The Broadmead car is used to transport residents to medical appointments as needed and as scheduled by the Outpatient Department at no additional fee.

Medical Claims Processing

Processing medical claims can be a time consuming and frustrating task, and one that you will never have to anguish over again, once you are a Broadmead resident. As part of the monthly fee, Broadmead handles all your medical bill processing and provides staff to answer whatever questions you may have. Residents are required to maintain a health insurance policy that meets the community's guidelines.
